Mixed Patterns? YES Please!
Whether stripes, dots, plaid, gingham, paisley, hounds-tooth, herringbone...in the right hands, "clashing" can elevate your look.
The trick to pairing patterns without looking like a crazy is to contrast design, but match colour.
Always consider:
1. SIZE & SCALE. Smaller scale patterns are easier to pair with other patterns and bold colors;
2. COLOR. Focus on the most prominent color when trying to complement the other colors in your outfit; and
3. PATTERN. If you’re wearing a bold, dotted tie for example, let that be the only attention-grabbing pattern on your body that day.
It takes practice but eventually you'll be mixing patterns as if you were doing all your life.
